“Do not worship any other god, for the LORD,
whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.”
– Exodus 34:14
God’s been teaching me so much these past years. He is drawing me closer and closer to him using every situation in my life. I have learned to know him better through my trails, my failures, and even through my achievements. I’ve learned how disobedience only brings bitterness and an unsatisfying feeling to your life. I learned that when I put God first on the throne of my heart I give Him the opportunity to move in ways I could never imagine. Now, if I could go back and change anything and try to do things differently, I most probably would, but God has showed himself so real to me through it all that I am thankful I have gone through it all because I have seen His love and mercy upon my life.
I love how God works! You can get so overwhelmed and frustrated sometimes when you’re in a situations where you don’t understand what God is doing, but believe me that it is better walking in God’s will with a thousand questions than walking apart from Him with all of the answers. Sometimes we can get so caught up in our daily life schedules, that we completely forget about God. Often it is not until when the storm of life comes ragging in, that we go running to God. God wants to be the center of our lives. He wants us to consult Him first before we make any decisions – big or small. God is a jealous God (Exodus 34:14). He wants to be the number one person and priority in our life.
God should not be just the person you run to whenever you’re in trouble. How would you feel if your best friend only acknowledges you when they need something from you? That is just not right. If that happens, you will feel used, mad, and most probably unappreciated. So if we don’t think it’s right to treat a person in such way, why do we treat the Creator of all things this way?
